Carsten Giersch has over 20 years of experience in political risk analysis and incident-based intelligence, and is specialised in advising on responsible business conduct. Carsten is an expert in modelling risk assessments for corruption prevention, anti-money laundering or sanctions compliance. He is also at the forefront of regulatory developments in the area of business and human rights.

His methods focus on identifying interrelated risks and relevant behavioural patterns, and he knows how to utilise integrity due diligence, human rights due diligence and supply chain due diligence for clients seeking to protect their reputation.

Apart from advisory work for the corporate sector, including major international financial institutions, Carsten has been engaged as a consultant for Transparency International, developing and implementing an innovative corruption risk assessment tool to monitor public funding. He is also an associate professor for political science at the University of Rostock and has published extensively on strategic risk analysis, conflict resolution and emerging regulatory requirements. Carsten heads Berlin Risk’s research arm, the Berlin Risk Institute, and publishes the specialist online journal Global Risk Affairs. He is a member of the German Council on Foreign Relations, Berlin, and The International Institute for Strategic Studies, London.
